Meet The Form Teacher Evening and NCEA Information Evening

All parents and caregivers are invited to a Meet the Form Teacher Evening incorporating an NCEA Information Evening. Wednesday February 15th 6.30p.m.-7.30p.m. for ‘Meet the Form Teacher’, followed by the ‘NCEA Information Evening’ from 7.30p.m.-8.30p.m.

We will begin in the Auditorium with a Welcome from the Principal and the introduction to your child’s Form Teacher, Dean and Deputy Principal.

Then the year groups will move off and we will incorporate a quick tour of the school, an opportunity to see our new buildings. For parents of junior students, we will take you to the classrooms where your child has their classes. Parents of Year 10 and Senior Students may wish to attend the NCEA Information Session that will form a part of the evening. Everyone is welcome. Our PTA will provide a light supper.

Power Outage

Due to a power outage the Kerikeri High School Uniform and Stationery Shop will be closed from 8.30a.m. until 11.30a.m., approximately, on Thursday 26th January. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

The 2012 academic year begins for each year level with the following programme:

Tuesday 31 January and Wednesday 1 February

11.00a.m.-3.00p.m.

Senior Staff will be available for Year 11 and Year 12 Course Confirmation

Friday 3 February

Year 13 – 10.00 a.m. start

Tuesday 7 February

Years 7 and 13 – 8.40a.m. start

Wednesday 8 February

Years 11 and 12 – 8.40a.m. start

Thursday 9 February

All students – 8.40a.m. start

Uniform & Stationery Shop Hours 2012 –

The School Uniform and Stationery Shop will re-open on Monday 23^rd January 2012, operating from 8.30am to 3.30pm until Friday the 3^rd February.

Please note the shop is closed between 12.00 and 12.45 daily.

Late Nights will be Thursday 26th & Tuesday 31^st January 5pm–7pm.

The shop will be closed on the public holidays, Monday 30^th January and Monday 6^th February.

From Tuesday 7^th to Tuesday 14^th February hours will be from 8.15am to 3pm.

On Monday 13^th February it will close earlier at 2pm.

From Monday 15^th February 2012 the usual hours will apply:

Monday & Friday 8.15am–12pm

Closed Wednesday

Tuesday & Thursday 8.15am–2pm

The historic Stone Store Basin hosted an eclectic flotilla of staff and student rafts as the 36^th annual Kerikeri High School Raft Race was held on Monday. In what is an iconic Kerikeri event the Inlet was busy with over ninety Year 7 and 8 students on 25 rafts, as well as three staff rafts.

Students are challenged to design a raft and paddles from simple materials. As well having a great deal of fun the opportunity to participate allows students to work together in an enterprising and collaborative way as a team.

The Sorenson Cup is awarded to the winning student raft and was won this year by ‘The Warriors’ made and crewed by Year 7 students Samantha Turner, Emma Campbell and Tylah Inverarity.

A longstanding High School tradition is that teachers new to Kerikeri High School participate in the race. Most teachers on the staff have their own Raft Race story to share with colleagues and students. This year, for the first time since 1996, the first raft across the finish line was a staff raft, engineered and crewed by Mr Cliff Magon and Mr Seth Brown. These teachers were so energised with their historic finish that they completed a victory lap as their students and colleagues raced to the finish line.

Kerikeri High School was well supported by the local community with a large crowd of students and parents in attendance. Our local Volunteer Fire Brigade were in attendance to shower the fleet with water as it passed by, and St John’s Ambulance also added their support.
